PRODUCT LITERATURE

Fixanol Conc | Dye Fixing Agent & Wash Fastness

Product Information

Fixanol (Conc). is a polyamine based non formaldehyde cationic dye fixing agent for reactive dyes and direct dyes. Due to its unique characteristics, it not only improves wash fastness, particularly staining on multifibre but also improves fastness to perspiration and fastness to water contact. Fixanol (Conc). shows minimum effect on light fastness and on the shade of the treated material. Fixanol (Conc). can be applied by exhaust as well as pad application.

General Characteristics

Physical appearance

: Pale yellow to light brown clear to hazzy viscous liquid

Ionic nature

: Cationic

pH of 1% Solution

: 6 +/- 1

Miscibility

: Miscible with water

Compatibility

: Compatible with cationic and nonionic products

Stability

: Stable to dilute acids and unstable to dilute alkalies

Application

1.Exhaust application:

After thorough soaping to remove hydrolysed reactive dyestuff from dyed or printed material, treat in a fresh bath with below recipes :

Fixanol (Conc).

: 0.3-0.8%

Bath pH

: 5-5.5

Bath Temp

: 40 deg.C

Time

: 15-30 min

If finishing with cationic softener is to be carried out in the same bath, it is recommended to first carry out dyefixing with 1/3rd quantity of required Fixanol (Conc). under above conditions followed by cationic softener in the same bath under same conditions for 15-20 mins. followed by addition of remaining quantity of Fixanol (Conc). in the same bath and treatment to be carried out for further 15-20 min.

Continuous application:

Fixanol (Conc).

: 3-8 g/l

Pick-up

: 65-70%

Bath pH

: 5-5.5

Drying

: 130-170 deg.C

3. Continuous Soaper:

Fixanol (Conc).

: 3-8 g/l

In last chamber, pH 5-5.5 with acetic acid, at 35-40 deg.C

Removal of dyefixing agent from dyed fabric :

Take 0.5-1% Celldet-R and treat the dyefixed fabric at 95 deg. C for 20-30 min and drain the bath.

Cold wash for 10 min and drain.

Adjust the bath pH 4.5-5.0 using acetic acid and run for 5 min to ensure the bath pH 4.5-5.0 then add

2.0-3.0% Saragen-SO

1.0-1.5% Sarakol-RDL

Treat at 85-90 deg. C for 20-30 min and drain the bath.

Hot wash at 70 deg. C for 10 min and drain the bath.

Cold wash for 10 min and drain.

Instructions For Dilution

Procedure to prepare 40% Fixanol (Conc).

- Take 50 parts of Fixanol (Conc).

- To this, add 50 parts of DM water

- Stir at 200-300 rpm for 30-45 min. using turbo stirrer to obtain clear liquid.

Note:

On storage brownish particles may tend to settle down and

the colour of the product tends to change from yellow to whitish brown. All this does not have any reflection on the perfomance of the product. Please stir before use.

Preservation: It is recommended to add 0.1% Bronopol (2-Bromo,

2-nitropropane, 1,3-diol) or Methyl Paraben (methyl para hydroxy benzoate) as an antimicrobial agent to avoid fungal / microbial growth.

Note:

- Due to the chemical nature the diluted product may show slight separation, kindly stir well before use.

- If vessel is equipped with baffle facility, propeller stirrer can also be used.

Precautions

Storage Store in cool, ventilated shed away from heat and direct sunlight.Storage temperature should not exceed 35 deg C.Close lids firmly to avoid contact with air and moisture.
Shelf Life 8 months from the date of manufacturing, if stored under controlled conditions.
