PRODUCT LITERATURE

SARAFIX-NEW

Product Information

Sarafix-NEW is a novel acid stable dyefixing agent for acid and metal complex dyed/printed polyamide and their blends. After treatment with Sarafix-NEW improves wet fastness properties. Sarafix-NEW is stable to concentrated acid. Sarafix-NEW treated fabric does not stain white grounds of prints on polyamide therefore it is also suitable for light and pastel shades.

Key Features & Benefits

General Characteristics

Physical appearance

: Yellow to orange liquid *

Ionic Nature

: Anionic

pH of 1% solution

: 4 +/- 1

Miscibility

: Miscible with water

Compatibility

: Not compatible with cationic products

Stability

: Stable to dilute acids and dilute alkalies

*Sarafix-NEW on prolong storage due to change in temperature, becomes darker.

*Sarafix-NEW has a tendency to crystallize at lower temperature. Heating upto about 45 deg.C and slight stirring should re-dissolve the crystals and product can be used.

Application

Exhaust Process

Sarafix-NEW :

1-3% (depending on depth of shade)

: 4-4.5 (with acetic acid)

Bath Temp.

: 70-80 deg.C

Time

15-20 mins.

Precautions:

-Cationic/Non-ionic leveling agents must be removed thoroughly as traces of such auxillaries may impair performance of Sarafix-NEW.

Note:

The handle of the fabrics may change slightly (becoming firmer, fuller), depending on the amount of Sarafix-NEW used, the fabric construction and the temperature during drying or post-setting.

The effects obtained by after-treatment with Sarafix-NEW are stable to dry heat at the usual setting temperatures but can be impaired by intense pressure steaming. Increasing the amount of Sarafix-NEW will often improve the stability of the dyefixation to steaming. Polyamide material treated with Sarafix-NEW is difficult to re-dye or over-dye. Sarafix-NEW should therefore be stripped first before redyeing.

For correction of any shade of material treated with Sarafix-NEW, first strip Sarafix-NEW by treatment with 1 g/l Supergen-MX and 3 g/l Sodium carbonate, temp. 95 deg.C for 45-60 mins followed by rinsing. Once Sarafix-NEW is removed from the substrate, then only stripping of dyestuff or redyeing / overdyeing can be carried out. The shade after correction can again be fixed with Sarafix-NEW as per standard procedure.
